I was hanging out with my kids the other night and my son Logan accidentally lost a piece of the puzzle that he was working on. Turns out it was under the fridge. It was somewhat difficult to figure this out since Logan is only 2. But we identified the situation and I took action. Both my boys stood back while I pulled the fridge out from between the cabinets. They were bouncing up and down and shouting out everything that they saw. There were magnets, a pen, a clothes pin, a small rabbit (of the dust variety), and... the puzzle piece. I learned that when magnets fall under the fridge they sometimes stick to the underside. This make it tough to remove them. We used a coat hanger to retrieve all the things we wanted and a broom to sweep up the bunnies. All of that got me thinking... I don't usually look behind the fridge for anything. As a result all sorts of stuff ends up there over time. I wonder what areas in my spiritual life are like that corner behind the fridge. Places I overlook. Disciplines I neglect. Or habits I've just gotten used to that aren't healthy. What's it take for me to stop and take the time and effort to look behind the fridge?
