Original Art

Our church just wrapped up a series called "Sleeping Beauty." The series explored the role of art within the church as well as the role art can play in our spiritual development. The series has sparked several dinner conversations with friends, and has inspired me to do more art myself.

I've been living in Luke 5:27-39 for the past two weeks. And as I've studied I've had this image in my head that I decided to actually get out on some canvas. So... here's the finished product... without further explanation.
And... you should be warned, as I was, that amateurs ought not to dabble in the realms of art interpretation. That is for the experts!

BUT
... since this is my blog and I make the rules... I say, interpret away! Talk to God about what it means. Come up with your own understanding of this "text." It will doubtfully be my intention but, lucky for you, I don't care.

Dabble with it, play in it, despise it, import it into photoshop and change it, let it speak, speak back.

And remember, your Creator is an artist, so it's probably in your blood too.

wow! the artist emerges! way to go!!!

i interpret this the late night musings of a weary man. he's hitting a brick wall and can't differentiate between the numbness that fills his brain and semi-concrete thoughts that surround. and yet. struggling, he stabs at the "send" button and turns to bed.

In the slums of Nairobi, there's barbed-wire around some church gathering-places. When some hungry Compassion kids get their food -- other kids try to jam themselves through the wire, from without. I watched crowds of moms, and kids, watch from without, while the kids within had a chance.

Please tell me, again, about how we need to "attract" more Americans, using more features, to a building, when in some places, they have to fence kids from the church building, for lack of funds?

Your painting reminded me of this excerpt from another guys blog, here's the link to the full entry

I liked the painting quite a bit, but not as much as I liked the Ice Dragon!
